Roadrunner Venture Studios
NAIOP Award Winner
Roadrunner Venture Studios is the latest adaptive reuse/urban in-fill project contributing to the development of the historic Glorieta Station property in downtown Albuquerque. Situated next to the iconic SW Brewery Building, which dates back to 1899, this 10,000-square-foot redevelopment of an old furniture warehouse now serves as a dynamic headquarters for emerging technology startups. The design consists of open office areas, a digital fabrication laboratory, private meeting spaces, a community gallery, and a centralized event space. Polished concrete floors, exposed penn-tile walls, and steel trusses preserve the site’s industrial character, while minimal partitions and frameless glass walls create a bright, contemporary environment. Roadrunner Venture Studios is envisioned as an open studio where the local scientific and tech communities can converge to foster design and entrepreneurship. Flexibility and adaptability are central to the design, reflecting Roadrunner’s aim to create a space that evolves over time, supporting innovation and collaboration in a contemporary urban setting.
