500 Marquette

NAIOP Award Winner

Perched on the 15th floor of the 500 Marquette building in downtown Albuquerque, FBT Architects’ new 17,000-square-foot headquarters represents both a bold architectural statement and a deliberate commitment to urban revitalization. The space is a modern reimagining of a site once home to the beloved Petroleum Club—a landmark restaurant long cherished by the community. By transforming this iconic setting into a dynamic, design-forward studio, FBT honors the space’s legacy while propelling it into a new era of creativity and purpose.

The space embraces a modern industrial aesthetic, where raw concrete floors, exposed ceilings, and warm plywood paneling form a clean, honest backdrop for creativity. Expansive glass walls promote transparency and connection while framing panoramic vistas in every direction. Offices line the central core, giving prime corners and glass-lined walls to collaborative conference rooms and work stations so that no seat in the house misses the view.

Designed as a hub of energy and interaction, the office balances openness with flexibility. Work zones include collaborative rooms, standing desk areas, focus spaces, and an inviting lounge anchored by the central bar—a casual gathering space that strengthens culture and client engagement. Curated displays transform the studio into a living gallery of the firm’s work, inspiring both staff and visitors.

The new corporate office at 500 Marquette is not just a place to work—it’s a platform for connection, a tribute to place, and a vision of what’s possible through thoughtful, intentional design.
