Mtucci’s Bar Roma

2022 NAIOP Eagle Award Winner

3222 Central Ave SE is one of Albuquerque’s most iconic and historic buildings along Route 66. Formally known as The Old Jones Motor Company building, the property consists of two buildings totaling 14,340 sq. ft. broken down as follows: main building of approx. 10,613 sq. ft and a garage building of approx. 3,727 sq. ft.

Constructed in 1939, The Old Jones Motor Company building(s) were originally designed by Tom Danahy in an Art Moderne style, with curved garage bays surmounted by a central stepped tower. The detailed stepped tower with abstract ornamental molding above the central portion of the building was one of the first icons encountered by westbound travelers on Route 66. Large display windows in front showcased the latest car models to passing travelers while stopping for gas or servicing. Th e property was added to the New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties and the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. In 2001, the property was designated as a protected City landmark. While the property had s ever al uses, over the past two decades the property was most recently known as Kelly’s Brewery and was an anchor to the Nob Hill area.

In Early January 2021 M’tucci’s Restaurant group and Geltmore, LLC strategized on a way to put the proper ty under contract and finance the asset to include a large tenant improvement allowance to clean up 20 years of neglect.

It is with pleasure that we can now call the property M ’tucci’s Bar Roma which provides its patron s a taste an d feel of being in Rome. M’tucci’s also added a production kitchen in the rear garage building which produces all bread, pasta, sauces, and many of the cured meats for all four of M’tucci’s locations. To round it out, M’tucci’s curated a third concept on the property, called Teddy Roe Speak Easy. The Speakeasy is a member only, bar forward, experience that is a first of its kin d to Nob Hill.
